It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I'm working on an Operation Love: Reunited session for some great new clients, but while I finish their processing, I decided to share some photos of what's been going on in our household of late-- decorating, baking, and hosting a cookie exchange. I guess it's my little way to celebrate finals being over, and to drive away the blah days of winter. (Shocking, I know. Winter and I are not friends.)

Tutorial for how to make the paper starburst mirror here. (I made a few changes, but it's similar, anyway.)

My sister Colleen is a champion snowflake-maker. Thanks, Coll!

I have some very talented friends. Check out these cookies! We have been thoroughly enjoying the fruits of their labors.

The bakery boxes can be found here.

A little bit of art we hung on our walls-- A new metallic-style canvas I wanted to 'try.' :) It has a little bit of a sheen on a canvas wrap. I like how clear the image appears on this style template:

A closer view of the metallic edge:

Finally, an art project I wanted to put on our walls-- I first saw the idea here, and kind of improvised on it a little bit by adding feathers and paper pinwheels. I thoroughly enjoyed the cutting, gluing and tacking. A little regression to grade school art class, perhaps? It may seem slightly snowy or festive, but I plan on keeping it up for a long time. It reminds me of a summer dandelion on the wind, and makes me smile.

**Remember to stay tuned later today for a few images from Nicki and Justin's beautiful sibling session for OpLove. I'm so looking forward to sharing them with my readers!

Because it's cold and snowy here in Connecticut, and because I recently read through all the Anne of Green Gables series, and am now enjoying the Emily of New Moon series, I had to leave you with this quote by one of my favorite authors. It almost makes me like winter. A little bit.

"The night was clear and frosty, all ebony of shadow and silver of snowy slope; big stars were shining over the silent fields; here and there the dark pointed firs stood up with snow powdering their branches and the wind whistling through them."

- Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

  2. Katie-your cookies look good enough to eat! I can vouch that they were fabulous! Thanks for having me! I also looked at the Operation Love website--awww-it made me cry--this is such a good cause that you are supporting. It has been 42 years since I said goodbye to my soldier--I can see the same feelings in the faces of these servicemen today. May God bring them ALL home safely. Sharon
