Whimsy: capricious humor or disposition; fanciful, or playful expression
What a fun evening with a sweet, energetic little girl! Annabella's mom, Lindsey, contacted me to do some photos for a surprise birthday gift for her husband-- so if you know him, keep mum about this shoot. ;) It always makes me nervous when people ask to have them posted before the gift is given, but she assured me her husband would never find out-- right, Lindsey? :)
I had a great time working with you on a beautiful evening, Bella and Lindsey! Thanks for trusting me with your memories!

Sneak Peek: Mother/Daughter
A beautiful evening filled with a beautiful little girl, pretty flowers, dandelion fluff, and sweet moments between mother and daughter.
I love my job.

More to come...

Your unsung virtues rate a ballad,
Choice roots for wine, crisp leaves for salad.”

New: coming or occurring afresh; further; additional, fresh.
We had a great morning getting baby pictures of little Sophia Grace. She was easy to photograph, and such a tiny little sweetheart. Just a gorgeous little beauty of a girl, who happens to live in a beautiful home. Her parents remodeled a Victorian home on a cute little street-- I loved it! I tried to get the feel of their home through some vintage tones in the photos, and I'm glad that a couple of them look like something out of the colonial era. So now it's rekindled my longtime dream of owning a really old home... much to my husband's dismay!
I loved working with Ashley and her friend, who stopped by to help out. We all came up with different spots and ideas for backdrops. It's enjoyable to collaborate with other minds to come up with unique takes on a common theme.
We started out with what is becoming a customer request-- the vintage scale shot. Since Sophia is already 1 month old, I didn't know if she would fit, but that was not a problem. She's such a feminine, petite little thing, and didn't mind posing in the least!
She really does look like a doll in this one-- perfect as she can be.

Careful... this one can put a lump in a mother's throat:

We went up to Sophia's room, and I saw this sign on the wall above her crib. I love the saying-- so I asked if we could arrange the furniture and use that wall. Ashley was all for it. And I'm so glad. Sometimes it seems that a mother doesn't get photos of interaction with her children, so it's nice that we could grab a few with Sophia and Mommy. Ashley is so nurturing and caring toward Sophia. It was a privilege for me to watch a new mom with her firstborn.
I love this one:

I saw the window, the raised paneling, the big chair, and just had to show how tiny little Sophia was. The bonnet she had on looked so feminine and vintage, along with the pattern on the chair, so I had to put it in an antique tone. Aren't her little crossed ankles the cutest?

This pillow quotes a line from a great children's book-- which is Ashley's favorite. So we had to work it into the session:

Sweet little piggies:

And out to the green, green grass:

Ashley, thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and letting me meet your little girl. I loved working with you!

Sneak Peek: Sophia
This has to be super quick, because I'm getting my gear all ready for a big wedding tomorrow. But when I saw this one, I just had to get it uploaded for Ashley.
This little sweetie was such a good girl-- so, so tiny and placid as could be! I love babies... 'So fun to photograph!
Ashley, there are so many images of your little girl to be shown on the site, but hopefully this can hold you over for a bit while I finish the rest. Thanks again for a great morning!

Tucker Michael
There's something about babies that bring joy and softness, clarity and fulfillment to life. A new, precious little life, fresh and unmarred by the external goings-on of a noise-filled world. Sometimes babies can bring us more than that, even. They remind us of those we love, and we seek to see others in their eyes.
Just six months ago this past weekend, Tucker's mom lost her only brother, Michael, very suddenly. The hurt and sadness don't seem to go away, and the pain is something that we seek to alleviate. We wish we weren't so helpless in the midst of such grief. And then Tucker Michael comes in, maybe not to take away the pain, but to give hope. Because it's hard to hold this baby and not think of life. It's hard to feel his soft, downy hair and not think of newness. It's hard to look in his little eyes and not see a future. It's hard to feel his hand and not feel comfort. It's hard to look at his perfect little lips and not think of shared laughter from years past. It's hard to say his name and not feel remembrance.
There's just something about a baby.
And I am now admitting how completely biased I am when it comes to the child of my very dear friend. (See the rest of her children here.)

This one makes my heart smile. Because, what is so sweet as little baby toes peeking from a blanket?

Senior: Nicole
We had a lovely evening to roam around town getting Nicole's senior pictures. She's graduating from THS next year, and wanted some relaxed, outdoor portraits. Nicole brought her mother and sister along, and we all enjoyed our time exploring for unique spots around the area. We managed to get some 'sister' pictures done while we were at it, and I'm so happy with how well Rachel and Nicole did.
Nicole's mom contacted me after seeing Katie & Sam's session, and booked me to take Nicole's pictures, as a surprise for her!
Thanks to all 3 of you for being so kind and willing to go along with whatever I asked you to do, whether it was climbing in underbrush, or laying on fallen apples in the orchard! :) Thanks for trusting me, and enjoy your senior year, Nicole!
